Spirals and Fantasy (2001)

for solo guitar

Spirals and Fantasy is written for solo guitar and is designed to be a piece that is composed to sound like a free and improvised composition. The irregular 5/8 meter along with the sudden “rasgueado” (a flamenco guitar technique where the performer is striking the guitar in a percussive gesture using all his fingers) creates a nervous and anxious character among the lyrical guitar melody.

Performance by John Crabtree, guitar.
