As a composer, some of my influences included film composers like John Williams, James Horner, and Jerry Goldsmith, among others. Some of my favorite films (and scores) have been in the genre of Sci-Fi – growing up among Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, etc. and I always thought it would be exciting to write music for a film of this type. My theme for this piece seemed to lend itself perfectly to a treatment of a Star Trek as it reminded me of a grand voyage of some type so I decided to make my attempt at what would be an opening credit/main title piece for orchestra that would portray this (which includes Alexander Courage’s “Original Theme For Star Trek” at the beginning).
For the title, I used the idea that was rumored around by “Trekkie” fans about a new Star Trek show/film that would involve a new captain of the Enterprise, Seven-of-Nine (from Star Trek: Voyager and the Picard series) that would eventually be developed. This would probably have been a television series show on Paramount+ continuing the voyages of the Enterprise and the Star Trek franchise. With this fictional idea in mind, I thought it would be interesting to place my soundtrack in that world ushering in a new generation of Star Trek lore.
